1. Who we are

SLATE is a bath ritual brand owned and operated by BY SLATE LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17525036), trading as SLATE. References to "we", "us", or "SLATE" in these terms refer to BY SLATE LTD.

Our website is byslate.co.uk. Our contact email is info@byslate.co.uk. Our registered office is Flat 35, 140 High Street, Colchester, CO1 1QW.

2. Your order

By placing an order on our website, you are making an offer to purchase the products you have selected. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order at our discretion.

A contract between you and us is formed when we confirm your order by email. You will receive an order confirmation to the email address you provided at checkout.

You must be 18 years of age or older to place an order. By placing an order, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

All orders are for personal use only. Resale of SLATE products without prior written permission is not permitted.

3. Pricing & payment

All prices are displayed in British Pounds (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. UK delivery is £4.99, or free on orders of £100 or more, and is shown at checkout before you confirm your order.

We reserve the right to change prices at any time. The price you pay is the price shown at the time you placed your order.

Payment is processed securely through Shopify Payments. We do not store your payment card details.

4. Production & delivery

Every SLATE Grid is made to order. Your Grid will be produced fresh following your order — this typically takes 2–3 working days. You will receive an email notification when your order has been dispatched.

We ship within the UK using Evri tracked economy delivery, which aims to deliver within 2–3 working days of dispatch. Total lead time from order to delivery is approximately 4–6 working days.

We currently ship to mainland UK only. International shipping is coming soon.

Delivery timescales are estimates and may be affected by factors outside our control. We are not liable for delays caused by the carrier.

5. Returns & refunds

Every SLATE Grid is a sealed bath product. The same terms apply to every Grid we sell, whether pre-built or built by you in the Grid Builder.

Changed your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you can cancel any order within 14 days of delivery, provided the Grid is unopened with its seal intact. Tell us by emailing info@byslate.co.uk with your order number, or use the cancellation form in our refund policy, then send the Grid back within 14 days of telling us. Return postage is at your cost. We refund the price you paid plus standard delivery within 14 days of receiving the Grid back, to your original payment method.

For hygiene reasons, bath products cannot be returned once the seal is broken, unless they are faulty.

Damaged, faulty or incorrect. Email info@byslate.co.uk with a photo and your order number, ideally within 48 hours of delivery so we can put it right quickly. We will replace the item or refund you in full, including delivery, at no cost to you. You do not need to post anything back unless we ask, and if we do, we pay the postage.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

6. Product use

SLATE products are intended for use in the bath only. They are not for oral consumption, topical application outside of bath use, or any use other than as directed.

Please read the ingredient information before use. If you have known allergies or sensitive skin, review the ingredient information on our System page, or ask us for the full ingredient list, or contact us before ordering.

Once opened, Blocks should be used within one week. Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.

We are not liable for any adverse reactions resulting from failure to check ingredient information prior to use. If you experience an adverse reaction, discontinue use immediately.

7. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, images, design, the SLATE name, logo, and grid system concept — is the intellectual property of SLATE and may not be reproduced, copied, or used without prior written permission.

The Grid system, block format, and product architecture are original works owned by SLATE.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SLATE's liability for any claim arising from the use of our products or website is limited to the value of the order in question.

We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from the use of our products or website.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

Your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law are not affected by these terms.

9. Privacy

We collect and process your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR. Your data is used to process orders, communicate with you about your purchase, and — where you have consented — send marketing communications.

We do not sell your data to third parties. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our website will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date of last update shown at the top. Continued use of our website or placing a new order after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Protected designs, brand & AI use

This section supplements section 7. It applies to everyone who views or uses this website, whether a person, a business or an automated system.

Registered designs. The shape and appearance of SLATE's products and brand marks are protected as UK registered designs under the Registered Designs Act 1949, entered on the UK Intellectual Property Office register with a registration date of 16 October 2026: UK registered design 6560818 (Bath block), 6560820 (SLATE logo), 6560821 (Grid symbol logo) and 6560822 (Build your Grid logo), each granted 26 October 2026; and UK design applications 6560817 and 6560819 (Set of bath blocks arranged as a cube), filed 16 October 2026, registration pending. A registered design gives its owner the exclusive right to make, offer, market, import, export, stock or use a product incorporating the design, or any design that does not produce a different overall impression on the informed user, for up to 25 years.

These registered designs are owned by Nattanan Sutdee, founder and director of BY SLATE LTD, who has granted BY SLATE LTD her consent to use them exclusively in connection with the SLATE products and brand. BY SLATE LTD is entitled to enforce these rights on her behalf, and any unauthorised use infringes both her rights as registered proprietor and the company's rights as licensee.

Unregistered design rights. Independently of registration, the shape and configuration of every SLATE block, grid and pack, and the overall appearance of each pre-built grid, including the arrangement, proportions and colourways of the blocks within it, are protected by UK unregistered design right under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and by supplementary unregistered design right. These rights arise automatically and do not depend on any register.

Copyright. All content on this website and in SLATE's materials is protected by copyright: the text and product descriptions; the names, descriptions and groupings of the blocks and grids; the block legends; the Build your Grid builder, its interface, code and output; photographs, renders, animations and video; packaging, labels and inserts; typography and layout. © 2025–2026 BY SLATE LTD. All rights reserved.

Trade marks and brand. SLATE, the SLATE wordmark, the grid symbol, Build your Grid™, Reset the Grid, the names of the SLATE grids (The Heartbreak, The First Date Tonight, The Burnout, The Sunday Reset, The Running) and the names of the SLATE blocks are trade marks or trade names of BY SLATE LTD, protected under the law of passing off and, where registered, the Trade Marks Act 1994. Nothing on this website grants any licence to use any SLATE name, mark or logo.

What you may not do. Without the prior written consent of BY SLATE LTD you may not, anywhere in the world: make, have made, offer, sell, import, export, stock or supply any bath product, block, grid, cube or set that reproduces or produces the same overall impression as a SLATE design, whether or not it is called SLATE; copy, adapt, reproduce, publish or create derivative works from any part of this website or SLATE's materials, including product photography, block names, legends, descriptions, packaging or the builder; use the SLATE name, logos, grid names, block names or any confusingly similar name, mark or get-up in connection with any goods or services; scrape, crawl, extract, download or store this website's content, images or product data for the purpose of reproducing, imitating or competing with SLATE's products or brand; or use any part of this website or SLATE's materials as training data, reference material, prompts or inputs for any artificial-intelligence, machine-learning or generative system intended to produce bath products, packaging, branding or designs, or to generate copies or imitations of SLATE products. Browsing and buying, linking to this site, and quoting short extracts for genuine review or news reporting with attribution are permitted.

Text and data mining and AI training: all rights reserved. BY SLATE LTD expressly reserves all rights in the content of this website for the purposes of text and data mining, web scraping and the training, fine-tuning or evaluation of artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and, for the European Union, Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790. No licence for any such use is granted; the research exception in section 29A of the 1988 Act does not extend to commercial use.

Consequences of infringement. Infringing a registered design, unregistered design right, copyright or trade mark gives rise to civil liability in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, including injunctions, delivery up or destruction of infringing goods, damages or an account of profits, and legal costs. Intentionally copying a UK registered design in the course of business, knowing or having reason to believe it is registered, is also a criminal offence under section 35ZA of the Registered Designs Act 1949, punishable by up to ten years' imprisonment and an unlimited fine. BY SLATE LTD monitors marketplaces, social platforms and manufacturing channels and will issue takedown notices, report to platforms, customs and Trading Standards, and bring legal proceedings where its rights or those of the registered proprietor are infringed.

Reporting and permissions. If you believe you have seen a copy of a SLATE product, or you want permission to use SLATE material (press, stockist listings, collaborations), email info@byslate.co.uk. Written permission is required before any use.

None of this stops anyone designing their own bath products. It protects what SLATE has made: the specific shape, arrangement, look, names and materials described above. If you are unsure whether something you are planning would overlap with SLATE's rights, get in touch first.
